What are Lip Fillers?
Despite what is often said, the facial feature that usually draws the most attention is the mouth. Even if it’s not what catches someone’s eye immediately, the moment you start talking, there will be multiple instances of mouth gazing, and that could be a good thing or a bad thing. For those who are subconscious about thinner “bird-lips”, or just overall lack of lip volume, there is a very popular and non-surgical solution to improving your lips’ appearance. At Personique on the Spot in Austin, Texas, we strive to provide the best experience and stunning Lip Fillers results in town! With two convenient locations, you can achieve the fuller, voluminous lips that you’ve always dreamed of in no time!
Lip Fillers are a non-surgical lip augmentation that uses injections of gel-like substances that serve as a non-surgical way to restore volume and fullness to your lips without the need for a plastic surgeon!
While there are other techniques such as fat injections, at Personique on the Spot, we offer several different types of fillers with naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid fillers (HA). HA is a component found in your body that is primarily located in your skin’s connective tissue. While your results won’t last forever (unfortunately), they will last you anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on which you use.
Types of Lip Fillers Offered
1JUVÉDERM®
Juvederm is an FDA-approved injection that is filled with a water-binding natural ingredient known as “hyaluronic acid”. This ingredient is already found naturally in the skin and works wonders in creating fuller, more volumized lips without requiring any harsh chemicals or dangerous additives. We offer the full line of their products, including Juvederm Ultra.
2RADIESSE®
Radiesse is a volumizing filler that contains tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. These calcium microspheres are very similar to the natural minerals found in our bodies. Over time, the body absorbs the microspheres and gel, leaving only natural collagen behind.
This treatment is unique in that it stimulates the production of new collagen, so even after the filler material breaks down, newly replenished collagen remains around the injection site to maintain a firm, smooth complexion.
3RESTYLANE®
Restylane is a part of the hyaluronic acid filler family that creates volume to enhance facial contouring. As an FDA-approved filler, Restylane will boost collagen production and reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles.

Who are the Best Candidates for Lip Fillers?
we believe that good candidates for Lip Fillers are adults with thinner lips but who desire fuller, poutier lips. Great candidates should exhibit the following characteristics:
- Are committed to good skin health
- Don’t have any blood diseases
- Currently don’t have chronic cold sores
- Have realistic expectations about the results
- Lips are asymmetrical
- Maintain a positive outlook with realistic expectations
- Non-smoker
- Overall good physical health
If you are currently taking medications, such as blood thinners, you may be told to avoid using them before your injectable treatments.
Are lip injections painful?
Since we use a topical anesthetic and the latest techniques, collagen fillers should not be painful. Some of the fillers also contain Lidocaine or another form of numbing medication to ease any discomfort. You may feel a slight pinch from the needle, but it should be rather quick. Most patients find the lip enhancement procedure to be mostly pain-free.
How many appointments will I need?
The average patient only requires one treatment to see stunning changes to their lips. It is important to remember that although the results are long-lasting, your body will absorb them over time. If you enjoy the aesthetic results of your lip filler treatment, you should consider scheduling maintenance appointments as you see less volume.
What are the risks associated with Lip Augmentation?
Our team is trained and certified to provide to best Lip Filler results, however, with any procedure, there are certain side effects and risks associated with the treatment that we believe every patient should be aware of, which can include:
- Bleeding and pain at the injection sites
- Cold sore reactivation
- Discoloration or tenderness
- Dizzyness
- Filler migration (the lip filler may bleed into other areas of your face, usually toward the nose)
- Infection
- Nausea
- Tissue death (a.k.a. vascular compromise, which can occur if lip filler is injected into or around an artery)
- Your lips may be of different sizes (asymmetry)
While these symptoms should heal on their own, if you experience any long-lasting or concerning reactions, please contact our office immediately.
