What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers can help diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. It uses a soft tissue filler that is injected at different depths of your skin. Depending on where you inject the filler, they can plumpen thin lips, enhance contours, improve recessed scars, and even help those with early signs of aging.
While there are different types of fillers used for different effects, Hyaluronic acid is one of the most commonly used. Also known as HA, hyaluronic acid is a natural component found in your body that is found in your skin’s connective tissue. There is also Calcium hydroxylapatite or the ability to use your fat taken from another donor location on your body. While fillers, unfortunately, won’t last forever, they will last you anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on which you use.
Types of Dermal Fillers Offered: we offer our patients the best Dermal Fillers on the market. Below, we have listed and described what each one is capable of doing. When you come in for your consultation, our knowledgeable staff will be able to help you determine the best option for you.
1JUVÉDERM®
Juvederm is an FDA-approved injection that is filled with a water-binding natural ingredient known as “hyaluronic acid”. This ingredient is already found naturally in the skin and works wonders in creating a fuller, more youthful complexion without requiring any harsh chemicals or dangerous additives.
One of the keys to having beautiful-looking skin is the presence of youthful volume. Unfortunately, as we get older, our skin naturally begins to fall flat and lose this volume, bringing on wrinkles and fine lines. Juvederm is one of the best solutions to reduce the signs of aging that we are forced to deal with. This treatment can instantly add volume and create fuller, plumper & healthier-looking skin around the face. Also, the fluid consistency of Juvederm creates some of the most natural-looking results that our patients love.
When Juvederm is injected into the skin, it attracts water, which creates a cushioning, skin-plumping effect. Juvederm injections work great on instantly diminishing deeper facial folds, restoring volume to the cheeks and chin, the grooves between the cheeks and nose, and around the outer corners of the mouth. The lips are also a popular place to inject Juvederm since the hyaluronic acid provides a soft, natural-feeling consistency to successfully enhance the volume of thin lips.
2RADIESSE®
Radiesse is a volumizing filler that contains tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel.
These calcium microspheres are very similar to the natural minerals found in our bodies. Over time, the body absorbs the microspheres and gel, leaving only natural collagen behind. This treatment is unique in that it stimulates the production of new collagen, so even after the filler material breaks down, newly replenished collagen remains around the injection site to maintain a firm, smooth complexion.
Once injected, Radiesse starts working immediately to restore volume where the effects of aging have caused the skin to grow slack and hollow. The filler acts as a scaffold under the skin, providing structural support that lifts and plumps the skin while stimulating your natural collagen to grow. The production of fresh collagen continues for several months after treatment for long-lasting results.
3RESTYLANE®
Restylane and Restylane-L are for mid-to-deep injection into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
Restylane and Restylane-L are also indicated for injection into the lips. The Restylane® line of hyaluronic acid fillers provides natural-looking results.
The Restylane line smooths away facial wrinkles and folds, provides subtle lip enhancement, smooths the lines around the mouth, adds lift and volume to the cheeks, and helps reverse the signs of volume loss in the back of the hands.
4VOLUMA®
Voluma is a new hyaluronic acid filler by Allergan (the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic). Voluma is from the Juvederm family and is designed to treat large-scale volume loss. Voluma has shown to be very effective in restoring volume loss associated with aging cheeks, cheekbones, and the chin area.
Voluma works to plump up deflated facial tissues by replacing lost hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring element in human connective tissue. It is one of the essential structural components that provide support and volume to the skin. When we are younger, our bodies produce an ample amount of HA, which is why in our earlier years skin is soft and supple. As the years pass though, HA (along with collagen and elastin) begin to diminish, causing the skin to become lax and dry and the face to lose its youthful volume.
Voluma is unique in that it is the only dermal filler made specifically to address volume loss in the cheeks, chin, and jawline. Its unique formulation, made of hyaluronic acid, allows it to be injected deeply into hollow areas with a small needle. The gel works with your natural collagen and elastin to smooth and plump skin instantly with long-lasting results.
