What is Kybella?
Kybella, or deoxycholic acid, is a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that helps to break down or absorb dietary fat.
As concentrated in the injectable Kybella formula, the deoxycholic acid begins to destroy fat cells when injected into the double chin and further disables them from absorbing fat in the future in this area.
Through multiple treatments, as Kybella continues to destroy fat cells, the double chin shrinks more and more, creating an increasingly streamlined profile of the chin.

Your Questions Answered
Who are the Best Candidates for Kybella?
we believe the best candidates for Kybella are adults over the age of 21 who are medically healthy and are not allergic to the active ingredients in the formula of this treatment. Other factors that make good candidates are those who:
- Have a moderate amount of unwanted fat beneath the chin
- Not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- Prefer to use a non-surgical treatment to reduce under-chin fat
- Struggle with removing chin fat through traditional means
What to Expect on the Day of Kybella?
Each Kybella treatment takes just a few minutes to administer at one of our Personique On-the-Spot locations. To see full results, your med spa professional may recommend up to six treatments, no less than one month apart, with each session requiring a series of multiple minor injections.
Kybella Recovery
You will be able to return home following your Kybella treatment, however, you should plan on taking it easy the first 4 days. Our Patient Coordinator will provide you with a list of instructions to follow as well as schedule your next appointment. You should expect to experience some swelling and redness, along with some bruising, pain, and numbness. While these side effects will go away, you can expect them to last between 2 and 5 days, however, some severe cases can last up to 2 weeks.
You should avoid participating in any strenuous activities during the first 3 days of your treatment.
There is a neck massaging technique that you may begin doing 3 days following your Kybella injection to help your lymphatic system drain the treated area. Using a very light touch, you will slightly stretch the skin as opposed to gliding across your skin. When stretching the skin, you are manually pumping the lymphatic vessels. You will do this in a deliberate direction as you are slowly brushing the lymph flow in its natural direction downward.
You will receive more detailed directions before you leave and be able to ask any questions about your recovery process.
How many appointments will I need before I see results?
Most patients require multiple treatments, as part of an ongoing process, to eliminate their double chin. While it is not typical to see full results after the very first session, the majority of patients see results after two to four treatments at Personique On-the-Spot.
Can I combine Kybella with other procedures?
Sure thing! Many of our clients will combine their Kybella treatment with an IPL Photofacial or Dermal Fillers for a smoother-looking face, or body contouring like Sculptra. If there are specific areas in which you are looking to improve, don’t hesitate to discuss them during your consultation and together we can find the right procedure combinations for you.
What are the risks associated with Kybella?

- Nerve injury in the jaw (which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness)
